Big Sur Weekend

This Is The Place!

This last weekend we camped at Big Sur. The week prior was a crazy week of wondering whether we would actually make it. Troy had the flu starting on Monday and Mazzy picked it up by Tuesday. Wednesday I was ready to throw in the towel after two nights of no sleep. Finally we got it together and had a GREAT time. We were lucky to go with The Hall Family, Matt Wiley, and the Waldron Family. It was an action packed couple of days. As soon as we got there Friday afternoon we got camp set up and took off for the River for a late afternoon swim...J/K it was a little chilly.
This is Barbie, Mazzy and I looking with total confidence at our spouses and our children on a side of the river we can't get to.

This is a before picture of Hailey camping. I wish I would have taken one on the last day. After lots of dirt angels, pouring sand and dirt on her head along with unwanted food and falling in the river a few times she looked a little different.

Gavin found a pretty little snake on our way back to camp. Luckily it was not poisonous. We came back and set up for the night.

This is a Colby and Mommy bonding moment!
Colby is basically in his element at the Ocean. When he was 2 years old and we would round the corner on the highway on the way to Monterey he would call out at the top of his lungs, "YOU GUUYS, THE OCEAN, I SEE IT!". It was very endearing!
Saturday morning we headed out to Pfeiffer Beach which for a day that was suppose to be cold and overcast turned out beautiful and about 68 degrees.
We were lucky to have a sneak preview of an up and coming pilot "The Josh Waldron Experience". It is similar to the "Jeff Corwin Experience" on Animal Planet.

He found the kids all kinds of weird beach creatures and kept everyone entertained.
After the beach we headed back to camp and the Men took the older kids to the River for a little swim and illegal cliff jumping. Ben and Matt were eager participants to do anything questionable. Luckily the Ranger was there or Josh would have jumped. Oh yeah he jumped anyway with the Ranger watching.

Troy stayed off the cliffs so he could 'watch the kids'. Noble Troy.
Mazzy was the kid that I was the most worried about and she took to camping like a natural. Her favorite activity was sleeping in the down sleeping bag with mommy. She is sooooo cute!

Having a baby gets me out of manual labor every once in a blue moon.
We had such a great time! Hopefully everyone recovered from the messed up conversations at camp fire after all the kids fell asleep! Maybe everyone will be up for a reunion tour next year. Any Takers???

I don't remember who told me that camping is good for your skin and body but I am a true believer! You too could look like this just two days after you get back. Really!

I love that you put a picture of your swollen eye on your blog! You are hilarious...but I feel bad that it made a turn for the worse. Are you better?

what brave campers you are!!! I don't believe we've been camping since we had our third baby -- and she's almost 2 years old! Way to go -- looks fun.

whoops -- that was Elena, not Wendy. I didn't realize my sister logged into my computer under her user.
